Birthday Party
It has been 3 months being with the kids here, what worries us most is that the kids just keep buying the cheap snack of inferior quality since they can not eat their fill in school. We were also astonished to know that some of them don’t know the exact date of their birth and they generally don’t celebrate the birthdays. Therefore, we held a big birthday party for the kids from Grade 3 to Grade 5. Their happiness nearly “overflew” when gobbling the food we bought for them from Chuxiong City.

Fruits, candies and snacks were prepared for them! They probably never got to devour so many kinds of food. They finally realized one of their birthday wishes with the help of OSM charity. The main courses came very soon after the ‘appetizers’—three birthday cakes with 11, 12 and 13 candles respectively to celebrate the birthday for all the kids. They were told to make wishes while lighting the candles so that their dreams would come true some day. The little candles were dancing to the ‘Birthday’ song sang by the kids. At that moment, a hope has already been sowed in each kid’s heart.

We were deeply touched by the kids who shared their birthday wishes in the presence of all. The wish made by He Zhengxiong, a smart boy who is full of fancy for the future, impressed us the most, which saying ‘Keep every little tree from pollution, every poor animal from harm’. Thank you sweeties, these lovely wishes are actually the promises you made to yourselves, please bear firmly in mind and do your utmost to realize them in the near future.

At that night, each face was wreathed with ‘sweet and creamy’ smiles. That might be the very first time for many kids to try the flavor of cakes. It will definitely become one of the sweetest memories in their life.
Children’s Day Evening Party Rehearsal
Children’s Day is coming in two weeks and we’ve been preparing for it since late March.Kids are actively preparing the shows they are gonna put on.Two classes even asked for one more show. They can’t wait to stand on the stage!

For Grade 6, they don’t have my music class, yet they still rehearse with my help their dance and songs after meals. The dining hall and a deserted temple are our first audiences.

As early as late March, Grade 4’s dance has been prepared. In a latest rehearsal, however, they refuses to practice, saying that it’s not beautiful, they don’t like to dance or they are tired. After 2 days’ communication, they rejoined to rehearse. Now their dance are the most prepared show and they keep practice even voluntarily!
The new look of Sapiwu Campus
After two weeks’ decoration, Sapiwu campus takes a new look. The playground finally said goodbye to the mud and embraced an new era of cement. A diversity of trees and flowers were introduced. The walls were whitewashed and doors and window frames got painted red.
The most remarkable change took place in the playground. It’s great to see that the students can get out of the “sand storm”.

Dormitory buildings of teachers and students both have white-green color make-up----shining brightly!
