‘Hope Journey to Chuxiong’
During these two years, the kids in Sapiwu have been aided by OSM charity and warm-hearted people all around China, by which the kids are impressed and encouraged. Meanwhile, we have also been racking our brains to find a way to pass the true essence of life on to these little kids, i.e. striving to become stronger constantly and trying to stand on their own feet.
Following this principle, we communicated with the administration board for several times and finally we were agreed to organize an outing to Chuxiong city, aiming to provide the kids with an opportunity to see and feel the ‘outside’ world. Following the initial purpose, we named this trip ‘Hope Journey’, cherishing a sincere hope of ‘pushing’ the kids in Sapiwu to explore their own future and realize their big dreams.

In the morning of March 26th, 13 kids from Grade 3 to Grade 6 step on the Hope Journey with various feelings welling up in their hearts: excited, nervous, happy, scared…(as right picture)
Kids left their laughter and smiles in every corner of the amusement zone in Chuxiong Experimental Primary School. They couldn’t be more excited since they even haven’t seen the slide or the swing in the real life before. Our hearts are filled with happiness when seeing sweet smiles from their naive faces. At that moment, I could see real angels flying in the sunshine.
The kids from Sapiwu were invited to have a math lesson with the students in the Experimental Primary School. They were absolutely absorbed by the novel teaching style ---interactive and multimedia-supported. The kids didn’t leave any words after the class but was lost in deep thoughts. It must be an unforgettable lesson for them.
With the highest expectation, kids then came to the Xin Zhi bookstore. They were greatly shocked by the sea of books but immediately ‘dived’ into it. They love fairytales and cartoon books to the best. It was just like the sponge absorbing water, the kids ‘absorbed’ the stories attentively. Thus nothing could distract them once they started to read. At last, all the kids have got favorite books sponsored by OSM charity. They were so fond of their new books that were not willing to let them off their hands.
They visited the Museum of Chuxiong and had a look around the campus of Chuxiong Normal College then. The splendid architecture, the vivid animal specimen, the delicate traditional embroidered finery, the beautiful campus, the huge library…We could see concentration with curiosity and admiration from their eyes. Finally they were reluctant to part.
To provide the entire school a pretty direct experience of the Hope Journey, we put on a mini photo exhibition later to close this journey. The kids from the trip also shared their experience with the peers on the class.
We sincerely wish that the Hope Journey could widen the kids’ horizons and enlighten more kids in this ‘isolated’ school, lighting up the hopes in kids’ little hearts, just like how we named this trip.
