1. Fresh Start

Arriving in Kunming on Feb.,15th, I met with Eva(second from left), Tianming, Sijiang and Leo(Right), the founder of a poor-students-aiding organization.Leo told me to be aware of a loneliness and indisposition that we might come across in two weeks. Most of all, never expect to “save” them, for they lead a quite happy life!

After a whole day’s trip, I finally got to school! At the very left stand the toys OSM financed to buy, including two set of Barbies and one mini helicopter.

Eva and I were introduced to the entire school on the first day. Kids always pear at us. We are mysterious and interesting! I shared a dream-coming-true story of mine and encouraged them to think about their dreams and strive for it.
2. Farewell , Xiaoyiwala
Xiaoyiwala is a school supported by one teacher. The calligraphy(right) on the door of the teacher’s office(his bedroom as well) impressed me alot, I believe that tells very well why he sticks to teach there for 13 years having only a half salary of an average—“Imparting Knowledge, wiping out illiteracy.”

On 16th, I followed Principal Young to go there, aiming to persuade the students to join Sapiwu out of the closing of Xiaoyiwala school. Yet some of the parents were reluctant to accept since Sapiwu is far away and more expensive.
This father(left) only gave the principal a “Yes” as a reply, no one more words! He couldn’t understand Mandarin that I spoke and left me only a cold and void back!
Eva and I talked with kids in Xiaoyiwala. They are really shy!
3. Kids Dream
In a PE and Ethics&Society period of Grade 5,we discussed about dreams.
He(right in blue), graduated from Sapiwu and now studies in a police professional college in Kunming. I invited He to give a talk, considering kids seldom attend high school and higher education is taken as a waste of time to earn money.
Kids really enjoyed talking with him and especially absorbed by his KungFu show. They were initially shy and become braver to tell later beside a role model! It’s so rewarding and great to see that dreams are diverse!
Boys want to be policeman, basketball players or astronaut. They adore Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee! Girls want to become musician; doctor to cure the diseased; teacher since she likes her teacher;…or even President of the nation so that she can help the needed.

On the blackboard behind, kids signed and wrote down their dreams. Taking this picture, I told them to strive for the dreams and we’ll see how many of them realized or are approaching to it!
I got to see milky river, starry nights, golden sea of wheat, a diversity of wild
Flowers and purest and simplest smiles, all for the first time! I am busy teaching,
Enjoying nature and playing with kids, which exactly is what I dream for. Great thanks to OSM for providing me this opportunity!
